The nutritionist was a nice lady, probably sixty-ish. What struck me most about her is that she ended most sentences with "and stuff." Which started to drive me crazy. Anyhow, she shows me my numbers from the 3 hour gluc test, we talk about the food pyramid (and stuff) - and portions, sugars, etc. Then she gives me a meter to check my blood glucose four times a day, a prick on the finger. Crap. So now I'm watching what I eat and watching the clock. I've been doing this since Monday. So far I have been well below the 120 they are asking of me (in the 80s mostly). I'm thinking that judging by the numbers I'm getting it's a little bogus that I'm having to do it, but it's made me think of all the crap I have consumed and how it affects my blood sugar. I have an appointment with my regular doc and we'll see what happens next. Here's what the glucose meter ensemble I have looks like:

I don't know how diabetics do it. After just a few days I've run out of fingers and places to poke.
Trying to look on the bright side... I guess I should be thankful I'm not classified as a "geriatric pregnancy" yet, right?
I had plans to go up to my mom's with the kids on Tuesday morning and return Thursday. Monday night on the way to hockey the Tahoe started making a really loud, fun scraping/grinding noise. Long story short, a wheel bearing went out and we had AAA tow it to our house. Floyd's cousin Chad who lives about 35 min away is an awesome mechanic and fixed it the next day. Oh what a load off my mind. The kids and I still went up, we just took the car instead.
Once up north, we made great headway on The Quilt for James' new room. I got all of the fabrics picked out and graphics cut out. I'm so very excited to see how it will look all put together. The paint (base coat) is almost done in his room and then I'll get to the fun stuff - the details.
This is the only photo I took while up north:
That snowman looks GREAT! I can totally relate to the lady who ends every sentence with "and stuff" my co-worker and her fiance talk that way and yes everything ends with AND STUFF! It drives me up a wall and the worst thing is they totally sound like hicks when they do it.
